What Is Legal Malpractice?

Legal malpractice is a lawyer failing to do something he should have done or doing something he should not have done. An example would be bringing your case in a timely fashion before the Statute of Limitations expires. Another example would be if a lawyer disclosed the confidence that you imposed on him and, yet, he told the other side, absent your consent, that’s him doing something he should not have done. If you are economically damaged by either of those two actions, you have a potential case for legal malpractice.
