One person killed in turnpike-into-landfill crash

One person was killed in a collision when his or her vehicle veered off Florida’s Turnpike and came to a rest at Waste Management’s Monarch Lakes landfill, the Florida Highway Patrol said Monday.
The crash was reported before 9 a.m. Monday, but it was unclear when it happened.
According to Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Wysocky, the vehicle was northbound on the turnpike before it ended up on Waste Management property at 2700 NW 48 St.
