Motorcyclist dies after crash with semi truck

A forty-year-old man died last week after he was thrown from a motorcycle on I-595 after crashing into the left rear of a 2010 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by a Miami man. The accident occurred at about 1:10 a.m. A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman related that after the impact, the motorcycle traveled across the eastbound lanes of the highway before coming to rest in the median. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

When riding a motorcycle, the driver isn’t surrounded by metal that can protect them in a crash. Because they’re only on two wheels, motorcycles offer less stability. They’re also less visible than cars. Because of these factors, motorcycle accidents are much more likely to result in serious injuries or death.

We’re Ft Lauderdale motorcycle accident attorneys, and the majority of the motorcycle accident cases that we see in our offices occurred because a negligent driver failed to see a motorcyclist. Very serious fractures, loss of limbs and brain and spinal cord injuries can result when a motorcyclist is involved in an accident. It’s not uncommon to see permanent disability and disfigurement when a rider that’s in full compliance with the rules of the road gets hit.
