Wrong Way Driver Kills Three in Crash
A wrong way driver killed three people in a Sunday morning crash in Miami. According to the Miami Herald, the 19-year-old driver was driving an SUV south in the northbound lanes of Krome Avenue. The dead included the driver’s 15-year-old sister and two people who were riding in the car that was hit. Four people in all were taken to the hospital where the third died. The crash in Miami on January 19 was just one of the six million auto accidents that, if statistics run true to form, will happen this year in the United States. To add to that staggering figure, a total of three million people will be injured in auto accidents in 2014, and some 40,000 will die. Accidents such as in Miami are generally grouped into three categories. Negligence, which is usually listed as accident cause number one, may be charged when a driver is determined not to have been paying attention to the road. Misconduct, which often involves alcohol, may be charged if someone is driving too fast, for instance. Product liability is the charge if some part of the car fails, such as a defective tire.Accidents that result in deaths are especially devastating and frightening to a family. What do we do next?
