Broward Sheriff’s spokesman Mike Jachles says a utility truck was travelling along Griffin Road in Cooper City with its bucket up and the occupants didn’t know.
The truck struck a hurricane-fortified traffic signal and street sign at Southwest 90th Avenue and Griffin Road, he said.
The truck flipped and skidded east, shearing off two power poles, Jachles said.
Driver Kenneth Haag, 60, of Pompano Beach was transported to Memorial Hospital West with back injuries, according to BSO. His passenger, Jordan Twist, 22, of Wilton Manors, was not hurt.
Eastbound Griffin Road between Palm Avenue and SW 90 Avenue was closed to traffic while the scene was cleared, and homes in the area lost power.
