Fort Lauderdale Doctor Killed in Broward Crash
A Fort Lauderdale auto accident lawyer says that a Miramar physician was killed June 23 when his vehicle was rear-ended by a tractor trailer on Interstate 75. Carl Rose, who was 59 at the time of his death, was driving a 1983 Toyota Celica and was stopped in the right lane with no lights on. Enrique Gordillo attempted to avoid Rose’s vehicle, but struck the rear of the car before jackknifing and veering off the highway.
Crash Under Investigation
Officials say that the crash is still under investigation and there was no immediate information regarding why Rose’s vehicle was stopped in the roadway. Rose’s mother, Bernice Rose, said that her son had grown depressed after the death of his father in 2012. Rose was not married and had no children. He is survived by his mother and a sister who lived in South Carolina. There is no word whether the family has contacted a Fort Lauderdale wrongful death attorney at this time.
Rose had been employed with Armor Correctional Health Services for many years, providing medical care to prisoners in the Broward County Jail System. According to his mother, Rose left his position with Armor three years ago. He and his mother had lived next door to each other for 16 years and she said he liked to be left alone.
It is possible that Rose’s family may have a claim for wrongful death. The death of a family member in an auto accident is traumatic and devastating to those that loved them, and can lead to financial difficulties if the lost family member provided support for those left behind. If there is evidence that the tractor trailer driver in this accident was distracted, either talking on the phone, texting or simply not paying attention until it was too late to avoid Mr. Rose’s vehicle, there may be grounds for a wrongful death claim. However, the family would need to discuss the matter with a qualified Fort Lauderdale wrongful death attorney.
