$ 4,305,000.00 medical malpractice verdict on behalf of a 74 year old man

$ 4,305,000.00 verdict on behalf of a 74 year old man who suffered a stroke as a result of a cardiologist's failure to refer him to a neurologist or vascular surgeon to consider surgery (carotid endarterectomy) to clear the blockage in his carotid arteries. The cardiologist in question had monitored the client regularly over a 10 year period and knew or should have known that the progression of the blockage in his carotid arteries should have warranted a recommendation by him to plaintiff that the plaintiff see a neurologist or vascular surgeon to consider surgery. As a result, our client suffered a disabling stroke resulting in partial paralysis, aphasia and mental impairment. On appeal, the case was remanded for a new trial and is currently being relitigated, which resulted in a defense verdict.
